The Clover Kanzashi Flower Tutorial
Tsumami Kanzashi has been officially designated as a traditional Japanese handcraft in the Tokyo region since 1982. Kanzashi is the art of making beautiful Japanese flowers used as hair adornments. Small squares of fabric are folded into petals using various templates and then the individual petals are sewn together to create the ornate flowers. In Japan, Kanzashi are most often worn by brides and by professional kimono wearers, however the recent comeback to these beauties has added an elegant touch to the daily wardrobe.
Here the petal-folding technique has become a popular hobby. Kanzashi is showing up as fashion pins, magnets, rings, gift wrapping detail, and beautiful fashion embellishments. Clover has simplified the art and offers a large array of Kanzashi templates to suit every need, from small pointed petals to large round petals. There are also gathered and orchid petals in small and large.
