This weekend we hosted our first all Employee Quilt Show. We are so proud of the talented employees here at Fabric Depot. Check out all the beautiful garments, accessories and quilts made by the employees at our store on our Flickr page.
Our knowledgeable judges included:
Michele Muska: Simplicity Creative Group
Georgia Granato: Fabric Depot's Senior Buyer
Julie Foglio: Palmer Pletch Quilting Instructor
Our judges had a difficult job to do. They selected the best item for the following categories:
• Best of Show
• Most Creative
• Best Workmanship
Those that voted at our showcase determined the winner for the Viewer’s Choice Award.
And the winners are…
Dee pretreated her fabric then layered thread and fabrics to create her flower. Her use of color and design is stunning!
Lynn Anne is an extremely gifted tailor. The added details in the hand sewn trim, bound buttonholes and bright contrast lining show through in her workmanship.
Nancy's gift of doll making is whimsical and creative. She used textiles, paint, wire and more to create this piece. Even the smallest details was thought of; from the heels on the inmates shoes to the iridescent paint on the crows.
Ardis is a gifted quilter and instructor. She made this quilt with perfect points, techniques, and use of color. She used 1930's prints and unique quilting to create this nostalgic quilt.
We also had our three judges choose a winner for the Judges Choice category.
This honor goes to:
Paula's reverse applique is both hand quilted and hand turned. Paula is extremely talented when it comes to hand quilting; check out some of her tips for quilting here
Marge used a family heirloom dress from the early 1900's to create the dress for her handmade doll. The details are perfectly executed in the tiny gloves and hand painted face.
Sara has been making stuffed animals for ten years. This particular piece is an original pattern design.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to our winners and THANK YOU to everyone involved. It was a great show! We look forward to next year's show already!
