Pixie Party is now in-store and online!

Fence quilt-960

The Cotton Rainbow Quilt Kit kicks off the Pixie Party program; a first-of-a-kind 2 ½” monthly strip club program.

Daniela Stout of Cozy Quilt Designs partnered with RJR Fabrics to combine the newest designer fabric collections from RJR Fabrics and Cozy Quilt Designs' best-selling quilt patterns. Check out the YouTube video debuting this month's quilt here.

The Cotton Rainbow quilt is designed by Georgette Dell'Orco. It explodes with fresh batik colors on a stark white background. A stunning eye-catcher, perfect for breathing life into the winter months ahead.

This quilt is perfect for confident beginners and advanced quilters alike. The kit includes strips for the print, background, borders, and binding. The finished quilt measures 64" x 64".

The best part of the Pixie Party program: the strips are not only pre-cut, but they are arranged in order that the quilt should be sewn!

Our store seamstress had the opportunity to sew the quilt we now have on display in our retail store, and below, she gives some pointers about making the quilt:

Cut multiple layers, 3 to 4, at once. Avoid the center crease- it's hard to iron out.

Keep cut pieces together in stacks.

Photograph to keep track of the order of fabric spectrum and to remember your layout.

Chain sew. Press as you go.

For even more efficiency, make three blocks at a time. Stitch using a 1/4" foot.

Sew in the order indicated in the pattern. Press seam allowances in the direction indicated.

If two pieces don't quite fit, don't pull the shorter end to make it fit; this will give you puckers. Instead, make any adjustments in the seam allowance, then pin the two pieces so they lay flat against each other before sewing.

Trim blocks to 12 1/2" squares.

Butted seams match up better, so un-stitch and re-iron seams as necessary.

And there you have it! Our seamstress used the remaining pieces she had left to make a matching decor pillow.
