Modified Style Portland 2014
Last night was the 6th annual Modified Style Portland Fashion Show Fundraiser. When Modified Style contacted us to contribute to this year’s fashion show we were thrilled. It is an honor to have the opportunity to be involved in our community in such a unique way. At the Fabric Distribution Party we brought a selection of threads, pins, zippers and buttons for the designers to choose from to use in their runway designs.
All runway looks are made by local designers who volunteer their time and talents to contribute. Each design is showed on the runway, then displayed to be auctioned off in a silent auction at the end of the fashion show. All proceeds from ticket sales, raffles and drinks and auctions were donated to the two beneficiaries, P:ear and Community Transitional School. Both of these organizations are doing amazing work in Portland to assist homeless children and young adults.
We were excited to see our notions put to good use on the runway! The creativity in each design was amazing.
Sienna Shepard, a Sophomore in high school, took First Place in the Adult Category. Her use of fabric was inventive and inspiring. We cannot wait to see what she makes in the future!
We had a fun idea at the silent auction, to bid on our own basket and gift it to the winner. Sienna was totally surprised when we told her the basket was actually hers!
We are grateful to have the opportunity to work with Modified Style and contribute to local charities like P:ear and Community Transitional School. Be sure to join us next year to see these great designers work on the runway!
