Mariner's Compass Blocks Made Easy

Flower and Vine Table Runner Quilters love the Mariner's Compass block and we've seen it in many variations over the years. It seems to be a perennial favorite, but a block that can scare away quilters who don't like paper piecing.

Thankfully Robin Long of Robin Ruth Designs has come up with an acrylic ruler that removes the need for paper!

We invited Robin into the store earlier this month to show off her ruler, and the project of the month that used it. It was so much fun to have her here, but we wanted to make sure that everyone gets the chance to see her innovative ruler.

Check out her quick one-minute tutorial on how you can strip-piece a Mariner's Compass block!

What a great addition to your quilter's toolbox, right?!

The ruler is availablle in a fat and skinny version, giving a different look to your blocks, and we have both available online and in-store. If you're in the Portland area, we invite you to join Robin for an all-day workshop on April 16! She'll join us for the day and teach you how to make your own Mariner's Compass block and then turn it into a lovely throw pillow (or get a jump start on your full quilt!).  Sign up here
