Say hello to Alison Glass Handcrafted

Handcrafted_instore

We fell in love with the down-to-earth feel of Alison Glass' new line with Andover: Alison Glass Handcrafted. The slightly muted colors and softer hand of the fabric make it perfect for so many projects that appeal to many types of sewists. What makes this collection stand out is the process which Andover Fabrics used--a wax resist dyeing. You can read more about Alison's decision to use this and how the process evolved over on her blog

The collection, available now in-store and online, is incredibly versatile as shown by the projects that have been popping up from sewists across the country.  Heather Bostic (@houseofalamode) made this beautiful throw pillow:

Cheryl Kuczek of Paradiso Designs used it in her Alison G4 Hobo Bag:

Alison combined it with appliqued wool for her booth dispay at Quilt Market:

Nicole Morgenthau of Finch Sewing Studio made this gorgeous Anna Dress:

I'm loving mini quilts recently and am participating in several fun swaps on Instagram. Would love this bundle to use in a rainbow mini quilt swap.

I love quilts and bags - which I prefer depends on what I am making... If it's a quilt, then bags of a bag, the quilts. Grass is always greener??

Thank you for including the link to Alison Glass's website, Teresa. Wow! It is such a great read about the manufacturing process, but even more so it shows what a great person and artist Alison is. And what BEAUTIFUL fabrics make up the Handcrafted Collection. I was not previously familiar with her work, but now I will be looking for her fabrics, for sure! I am a beginning sewist and have started making items with that zakka feel to them.

I love working with fabrics in any kind of project! If I were to pick a favorite, I guess it would be fabric post cards. They are like mini quilts and can be completed quickly. Then they can be sent for someone else to enjoy! I've made them as cards (with a card stock backing and a fold) so that the extra flap of card stock can be cut off and the top can be sent as a post card. Love Alison Glass's fabrics!

My favorite thing is baby quilts! I can try out so many different ideas, styles, and techniques, and it doesn't take forever. 8 ) I also love working on small felt things - Christmas ornaments at the moment.
