It's a Fancy Forest Quilt Along! +giveaway

Fancy Forest Quilt We are counting down the weeks until we start our Fancy Forest Quilt Along! It has been wonderful to have so many local quilters sign up for the event. In fact, there has been such a great response to the class that we're nearly sold out of the Sunday class and have added a Monday mid-morning class, too! [We are now sold out for both classes! Sign up for the wait list by emailing socialmedia@fabricdepot.com]

We know there are many of you who want to make this quilt but live too far to make it into the store every week, so we'll be sharing some of the lessons, tool recommendations and tips here on the blog and over on our Fancy Forest Quilt Along Facebook group. We hope you will join us there and share your questions and finishes with us.

To help us kick off the quilt along, our friends over at Me+You Batiks, a division of Hoffman Californa Fabrics, have generously donated not one, but TWO complete Fancy Forest Quilt kits for us to give away.

This includes Elizabeth Hartman's Fancy Forest quilt pattern book, the Fabric Depot-exclusive bundle of 40 fat quarters of Indah Solids and Me+You batiks, five (5) yards of Birch Indah Solid for background, plus the white and black detail fabrics (approx. $200 value). Enough to make the entire large top of the Fancy Forest quilt!

Want to win it? Here's how:

Leave us a comment below and tell us about the next epic quilt you want to make. What's on your quilting bucket list? A Dear Jane? Violet Craft's Lion quilt? A Storm at Sea? We'd love to hear!

We'll choose two random winners from all the comments left before midnight on Monday, January 25, 2016. The winners will be announced (and notified) on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.  [Comments are now closed.]

On my quilts-to-tackle list are two biggies—Jennifer Ofenstein's Project of Doom, a huge, Harry Potter-themed paper-pieced quilt, and an intricate, appliqued, gold and cream Hawaiian quilt.

I don't have a bucket list really, I just go in everyday and play with color and old blocks and modern blocks and different sizes, I explore and play. I come up with some really good stuff and some real stinkers too. I guess my bucket list is to explore, learn, have fun, love the good and the not so good and have fun!!!

I am working on an original design, we have a king bed and most quilts don't have a long enough drop once the bed is occupied so it's going to be huge. It's based on long triangles, forming larger triangles and cascading through the color spectrum....using only fabrics from my collection. I need to cut more neutrals! The last quilt I did was stripes of varying thicknesses, I arranged the prints in an order I found appealing then did a reflected row of each, breaking across all the rows with a few stripes of polka dots...again, all fabrics I already had (including some Amy Butler from the early 2000s). I added ric rac to the binding on the front and quilted it in a chevron pattern. I did the whole thing, start to finish over the two days before my daughter was born, made it big enough for a toddler bed. I generally just make a stack of fabrics, then sketch out how I want to use them. Cut a few pieces, try them out and build from there...I won't think up another one til I've got the triangle quilt on my bed....that's enough little clippings to keep track of.

My next "epic" quilt is going to be a Pioneer Log Cabin by Judy Martin. It's a log cabin with a secondary pattern made by varying colors in your individual logs. And it's going to be an epic oversized King!!! (Yay! Finally a quilt for us!). I've loved the Fancy Forest pattern since I started seeing glimpses here and there of Hazel Hedgehog, mainly as our two year old loves hedgehogs! I would love to try this pattern!

I'm not new to quilting or sewing, but am just getting back into all of it after a long hiatus. For various reasons.. Anyway, I'd like to make a quilt from a kit that a friend got me while she went to England many years ago. It's a Laura Ashley kit. Some of your readers may remember that! Also would LOVE to make this one - for a grandson who is due in February.

Love this fun forest animal quilt. I'm currently working on two quilts. The first is and Alphabet quilt where myself and 25 others each were assigned a letter. Each person then made 26 of that letter and mailed 25 out -1 to each- to the other members. We have been doing this for several months now and we are in the home stretch ( waiting on 6 more so I can finish my Top)
Also I just started a Bookcase one with a witchy/wizard theme. This is on my bucket list. And will be donated for auction to a local charity once I'm done. This would be an epic quilt! My next planned project is a KING size quilt for my bedroom...I've spent 2 years getting the fabrics...now me and my tiny Janome need to get on it. This will be the first quilt I've ever made for myself ☺️

Besides my block of the month, "Mid Winter Blues" and a paper pieced wall hanging for a little princess, I want to do a large "Lone Star". I think a small forest animal in each corner would be wonderful!

I would love to make the Fancy Forrest quilt!

I'm currently working on a large triangle quilt. I try not to plan my next quilt until one is done, otherwise I ended up with a bunch of half started quilts piling up!

I would love to finish The Farmer's Wife quilt that I started two years ago. I made fifteen blocks and when I tried to piece the flower basket handle three times without success, I became frustrated, put the project away, and haven't restarted on it. I also have the Civil War quilt book to start.

The Fancy Forest is My ultimate bucket list quilt. I just finished the Hedgehogs tonight for our granddaughter and made her the Fancy Foxes last month and our 34 year old daughter has requested the Fancy Forest. I would love to make this for her. I am in my second year recovering from Tongue cancer and have been on a quilting marathon for the past six months making quilts for the family. I'm cancer free so the Fancy Forest would be the ULTIMATE BUCKET LIST QUILT. Thank you Elizabeth Hartman for so many wonderful family heirlooms.

I'm currently working on a Moda Modern Bulidig Blocks quilt with prints instead of solids. When that's finished I might start a swoon quilt with FQs my grandmother collected to make a quilt for me but was unable start before she passed away. I also have the Farmers Wife Quilt and Dear Jane on my bucket list. So many quilts, so little time.

I made my son a darling animal quilt when I was pregnant with him. We were in a car accident when he was about 2 months old, and the car was totaled and towed away. We never saw the quilt again (or my favorite pair of comfy slippers haha!). My son is 2 years old now (pray for my sanity please!) and my only bucket list item has been to remake his baby blanket. I hand drew/cut all the animal appliqués on his original quilt when I was on bedrest - steaming my love for this beautiful miracle boy into every single seam. It's hard to replace something like that, but I've had my eye on this pattern since it was released as an excellent replacement!

I hope to be in the virtual classroom for the quilt-a-long (that is, if I can tame my beast of a toddler into letting me!)
