Fall 2015 Quilt Market Recap
We're back from Quilt Market and so excited about everything we saw there! Each fall, we join shopowners, designers, manufacturers and industry execs from around the world in Houston for the annual Fall Quilt Market. For three days we are immersed in the newest and best the industry has to offer--patterns, books, fabrics, notions, everything related to quilting!
This year, our crew included Fabric Depot's owner/president, Trudy, her daughter and Operations Manager, Elaine, plus Elise, our Fabric Buyer, Carol, our Notions Buyer, and Teresa, our Social Media Manager and resident sewing/quilting teacher. With hundreds of vendors, there was so much to see. We shared hundreds of photos over on our Instagram page, so make sure and follow us there to see everything. These on the blog are just a handful of our favorites:
Mary Fons released her first fabric collection with Springs Creative. Called Small Wonders, the the first series is based on different places around the world: South America, Italy, China, India and, the Netherlands. We're particularly fond of the Netherlands collection (shown above) because our founder was Dutch! We'll have this collection in store soon.
Andover Fabrics announced their new partnership with Little House on the Prairie and showed off dozens of quilts and projects made from the reproduction fabrics. Using samples and images from the television show, the new collection has 50+ prints.
We'll be hosting a Little House on the Prairie event this spring, so keep an out on our blog for more info!
Violet Craft is back with Christmas on Brambleberry Ridge with Michael Miller Fabrics. Using the same motifs, the new collection is gorgeous in its intense colors and gold metallic touches. It will be in-store next summer.
Violet also introduced her next pattern in the Jungle Abstractions series: Giraffe. We loved it and will have the pattern and kits in early December.
January will get a little brighter with Luminaria by Julie Paschkis. We love this color-saturated collection from In The Beginning Fabrics!
It was great to get the chance to meet designers in person at Quilt Market. Bari J set up a painting area in her Art Gallery Fabrics booth showcasing her talents that translated so well into her newest collection, Millie Fleur.
Alexia Abegg's new collection, Clover, for Cotton + Steel grabbed our attention. The vintage dress patterns were perfect for the collection and we're looking forward to finding current patterns that will work just as well with the new rayons, double gauze, and linen blends.
As always, it was great to get the chance to hear Kaffe Fassett talk about his new collection Striped Heraldic for Westminster Fabrics and new book, Kaffe Fassett's Heritage Quilts.
