Come Learn Some New Skills in the New Year

It's a new year and there's plenty to learn! We're kicking it off with two events: the Secret Sampler Society with Judy Livingston and the Fancy Forest Quilt Along.

Pattern designer, quilter and industry professional, Judy Livingston will be here every month to teach you two new blocks for the Secret Sampler Society. Over the course of the year, you will make 16 blocks (and by doing so you'll earn eight free fat quarters!). From the beginning, Judy will walk you through each step of quiltmaking, from choosing your fabrics and deciding which to use for which part of your block to finding a quilt layout that makes you happy.

Starting January 30th, the Secret Sampler Society will meet monthly (except in July and August) to share their blocks, learn new techniques, find helpful tools and get guidance on making your mystery quilt. You can find out more info and register through Eventbrite

On February 28th we will kick off the Fancy Forest Quilt Along using Elizabeth Hartman's newest pattern. Join me every Sunday afternoon for ten weeks as we work our way through each block and constructing the quilt.

Newbies are welcome to come along and make the smaller version. There will be two hours of sewing with the assistance of sewing instructors.

We joined forces with our friends at Hoffman Fabrics and used their beautiful Me + You batiks collection for the quilt. The exclusive Fancy Forest Quilt Along bundle is available online and in-store.

You can find out more information about the class and register through

If you're too far away to come in for the quilt along, I encourage you to join our Fancy Forest Quilt Along group on Facebook and share your progress as we work our way through the quilt here in the shop!

We'll be announcing our spring schedule of classes soon, but first we'd love to hear from you!

What skills are YOU looking to improve this year? What do you want to learn to sew? Any quilts that you're especially enamored with? Leave us a comment or email with your ideas and suggestions.
