Tips for sewing faux fur

To make this throw you will need 1-2/3 yards of fur and backing. The backing can be anything from satin to cotton. Make sure your backing is 60 inches; the same width as your fur piece.

•For making a throw blanket, trim off seam allowances and square up fur piece and lining.

•Trim hairs away from raw edges.

•Expect fur to creep because of its nap. Mark edges of both lining and fur with snip marks at about 8” intervals. Do this with wrong sides facing each other. Mark the “top” of each with a safety pin. Then turn them and sew right sides together.

•On the side edges, sew in the direction that the fur flows.

You now have a soft, luxurious throw that can glam up any living area.
