Celebrating 24 Years of Fabric Depot

Fabric Depot sign

Serving sewists, quilters and crafters since 1992, Fabric Depot is a family-owned business in Portland, Oregon. Our founder, Tony Bosboom, always believed in providing great products and a great deal for our customers, and more than two decades later we’re proud to be continuing his traditions.

Tony leased an out-of-use Fred Meyer store and transformed it into a local fabric store that covers 1.5 acres and carries more than 30,000 bolts of fabrics, hundreds of craft supplies and dozens of yarn options. In 1992, they lifed the sign that continues to welcome shoppers to Fabric Depot in SE Portland.

Fabric Depot Opening Day
The store can get busy when there's a good sale--just the way Tony loved it.

Fabric Depot interiorFabrics come and go, but our emphasis on customer service and supporting the creative community has continued over the decades.

Trudy at Fabric Depot
Tony's daughter, Trudy, now owns and operates our shop with the help of more than 100 employees.

Thank you to each of our customers, whether local or across the globe, for being so creative, talented and wonderful—we love being able to support you in your projects!

Congratulations! I just recently shopped there for the first time and got fabric for a shirt I made. From the lady who helped me in the fabric area, to the nice girl at the cutting table, to check-out it was a fun experience - and my shirt turned out great! (first time sewing from a pattern...)

I have sewn all of my life. I sincerely appreciate all the staff at Fabric Depot who have helped me with my many projects throughout the years, always very friendly. Thank you for all the beautiful fabrics and many supplies we can find at Fabric Depot. Was very sorry to see the beautiful trims go away though, but can understand the cost of having that in the inventory. Thank you for always being there.

I have a special affinity for your store--my Mom worked at that Fred Meyer for many years before it closed. I also worked at Fabricland for several years before it was bought out. I really appreciate your great fabric selection. Here's to many more years of success!

I always look forward to a trip to the valley. Fabric depot is just a short jaunt from the freeway coming and going. Wish I lived close enough to work there. Congratulations

I have shopped at Fabric Depot for years and always found people willing to help or find someone for you to help you. Fabrics are amazing and enjoy the people and place so much when I go there. I learned to Quilt at your store with Julie and have bought numerous materials as a result. Keep up the great work.
