If it wasn’t for Fabric Depot, I’m not sure I would have ever started sewing in the first place! Years ago when I was discovering the joys of fashion sewing I would spend hours in this store, poring over the exquisite fabrics and lace trims. And every time I’ve been away from Portland, whether for overseas travel or long-term moves, I am always just as delighted with the selection when I return. There is really nothing like it in any other part of the country, and when I was living on the East Coast I actually had to stop sewing altogether!
My favorite dress I designed, “Liesl’s Dancing Dress” (inspired by the Sound of Music), is constructed from a lovely, shimmery chiffon called “Sheer Magic” by Logantex. This delicate polyester sheer has all the elegance of a fine silk chiffon, but sews with the ease of a quilting cotton! I have yet to have problems with snagging on this gorgeous sheer, and so many of my customers have commented on the fabric I used for this design. Seamstresses who live in Portland really don’t know how blessed they are. Next time a special occasion arises in your family, be sure to visit Fabric Depot for exquisite fabrics and excellent customer service.
