DIY Vinyl Mouse Pad

Texture. We need more of it. Am I right? I love good texture, especially in areas around the house that could use a little extra something. The computer desk can often times be completely functional for work but lack our personality we want to show through. With an area that has many smooth surfaces, it is nice to create balance with added texture. I made this mouse pad to do just that. It’s fun, quick to put together, and the perfect amount of texture to make your space more interesting.

Supplies Needed:
10×10 inch of Rug Grip
10×10 inch of (very) lightly textured vinyl
10×10 inch felt piece
Hot glue gun/sticks
Scissors
10 inch round template (I used a plate)

Step 1:
Trace the back side of your vinyl with a 10″ circle. Cut out and set aside. (image 1)

Step 2:
Using your hot glue gun, glue the rug grip to the felt. Press lightly with your finger to ensure the two pieces are secure to one another. (image 4)
TIP: This part can be a little tricky, just keep your glue lines straight and apply less glue more frequently, rather than too much at once. This will keep the mess at a minimum.

Step 3:
Turn the felt/rug grip piece with felt side up, still measuring 10×10″. Carefully begin attaching the top vinyl piece by hot gluing around the perimeter, pressing with your fingers regularly to avoid bumps and bubbles. (image 5)

Step 4:
All your pieces are attached! Last step, trim off the bottom layers. Be sure to get close to the edge of the vinyl to get a clean, finished edge. (image 6)

Now get crafting! This no-sew project turned out so amazing! It makes me want to revamp my entire desk area with fun texture and detail.
